The 5th annual Farm and Fiddle International Beard Contest will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at Café Berlin in Columbia.
Doors open at 6 pm. The contest begins at 7 pm and will be broadcast LIVE on Farm and Fiddle at KOPN.org 89.5 fm. There will be goodie bags for the first ten who enter the contest. Categories to be judged are Full Beards, Partial beards and moustaches. The partial beard category includes mutton chops, goatees, free style and so forth. Judges will determine winners by awarding points in appearance of beard, including symmetry, color, and grooming, planning and finesse of the look, answer to the pageant question and je ne sais quoi (jin say KWAH).
The entry fee is $10 and the pot for each category is split between the winner and the radio station, so if there are 5 entries the pot is $50 and the winner gets $25. There are 3 categories--full beard, partial beard and mustache. The judges’ decision is final. We will have great commemorative t-shirts and all proceeds go to KOPN.
