MALCOLM LONDON, called the Gil Scott-Heron of this generation by Cornel West, is an internationally recognized Chicago poet, activist, educator and musician. London brings vim and vigor to his energetic performances tackling tough contemporary issues head on.
As an organizer, London was part of a historic youth delegation to the United Nations in Geneva to address police violence in Chicago. Deeply interested in working on ways to improve the national education system, London regularly visits high schools, youth jails, colleges and communities to work with students on writing workshops and performances. London, also runs the largest youth open mic in Chicago along side his friend Chance The Rapper. He sees art as the intersection between justice and poetic imagination.
Malcolm is now taking what he's learned from teaching and being an artivist and putting it into music. London was one of three artists profiled in the Billboard documentary piece, “Saving Chicago: Inside Hip-Hops Movement to Make Chicago a Better Place” when his debut project "OPIA," was released in October 2016.
His latest project is called the "Right Away Series" and will be released on January 19, 2018 on all music providers.
